How-To Follow NCHLA on Twitter

NCHLA’s Twitter account is a great resource for persons interested in legislative pro-life issues. NCHLA’s Twitter account will notify subscribers of new Action Alerts, updated Legislative Reports and Fact Sheets, and upcoming NCHLA presentations and programs. In order to subscribe to NCHLA’s Twitter account, you must either have a Twitter account or a RSS Feed Reader.

RSS (or Really Simple Syndication) is a way that websites notify their readers when new information is posted and a “Feed Reader” is a program that will notify a user every time the website is updated or, in our case, NCHLA sends a message (or “tweets”). NCHLA’s Twitter account gives off an RSS “signal,” which you are able to receive with a feed reader.

Chances are you already have a feed reader on your computer. They are available through MS Outlook, built into your web browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla), or developed by third parties, for example, Google Reader provides one that is free and easy at www.google.com/reader.

Adding NCHLA’s Twitter account to your other RSS feeds is easy but due to the variations between mail programs and computer settings each person must assess the best manner for them to subscribe to NCHLA’s Twitter account. This is usually dependent on which program the subscriber uses as their primary mail service. Regardless of your e-mail service (e.g., Outlook, Windows Live, My Yahoo, or Gmail), here are a few important things to note

• Look for and click (or right click) the button that says: “RSS Feeds” or “Add Subscription”.
• If your program requests NCHLA’s RSS Feed or URL, it is: http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/37799121.rss
• Once you have selected “Ok” or “Yes” to subscribe to NCHLA’s Twitter account/RSS feed, you will receive notifications every time NCHLA sends a message.
